Department of Applied Computer Science and Modelling is the youngest Department at the faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science. The Department was established In 1997 with the name Department of “Computer Modelling of Metallurgical Processes”.
There are 46 Faculty Members employed in the Department now, including 10 Professors and 19 Faculty Members with PhD degree. Beyond this, there are 2 Senior Lecturers, 15 Assistants, 2 PhD students and 1 Student-Assistant in the Department.
Department of Applied Computer Science and Modelling is involved in research on applications of computer science in engineering, in particular in metallurgy and materials engineering. In education the Department is responsible for teaching students on the following specializations: Modelling and Information Technology (field of studies Applied Computer Science); Industrial Computer Systems (field of studies Applied Computer Science); Computer Science in Metallurgy (field of studies Metallurgy); Education in Computer Science (field of studies Education in Techniques and Computer Science). Beyond this, the Department is involved in teaching in the field of studies Computational Engineering and in the field of studies Virtotechnology (together with the Faculty of Casting)
